Tree Lighting Spectacular

The Tree Lighting Spectacular was a brand new addition to the Saint Andrew’s “Watch for the Light” Christmas season intended to foster community by gathering families together in “The Well,” a fountain wall in the outside center of the campus. From the first client meeting in July of 2019, it was clear that Spectacular was the key word: we wanted something over the top that people would watch with wonder, while sitting together below the church’s giant 93’ outdoor lighted cross. This show was one of my favorite designs of all time because the purpose from the onset was not just to use light to dazzle, impress, or show off, but the direct result would be to bring people together, and then synchronize with a video showcasing highlights the of Saint Andrew’s church family demonstrating God’s love throughout the past year. Draw people in with the spectacle, then remind them that they are the ones in whom God’s light must shine. Disneyland’s World of Color was a point of inspiration for this event, and we were initially asked to propose a package that would build an all-out no-limit temporary light and water show tailored to Saint Andrews’ favorite Christmas music collection. The final version displayed here was accomplished with 10% of the initial proposal budget.
